who is unpolished*?

unpolished* is a new, all-femme rock band from Los Angeles, CA. The band formed when vocalist Mary Bugbee and guitarist Celinda Chang met by fate at the latter’s show at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, quickly becoming friends and bonding over a shared love and passion for music. When the opportunity to perform at a local show presented itself, they wrote some songs and recruited Jazmin Alvarez on bass and Jasmine Day on drums, and thus unpolished* made their debut in April 2024. Sitting somewhere in between alternative rock, punk rock, pop punk, heavy/hard rock, and grunge with influences ranging from Green Day and My Chemical Romance to Demi Lovato and Lady Gaga, unpolished* is already drawing attention and turning heads in the local rock scene with their energetic live performances and passionate songwriting — just four months and seven shows into their career. Their end goal? World domination.

    VOCALS

    Vocalist Mary Bugbee has been a huge music fan her whole life, but is heavily influenced by Dead Sara, Dominic Fike, & Lady Gaga. She formed unpolished* after meeting Celinda Chang by chance at the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood.

    GUITAR

    Celinda, a self-taught guitarist of three years who plays with a number of bands & artists throughout LA, takes influence from bands like My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, and Green Day.

    BASS

    Jazmin, a newly self-taught bassist, found her passion for bass after joining unpolished* a little over five months ago. She has always had an affinity for music with inspirations like Maná, Hole, Hombres G, and Loathe.

    DRUMS

    Jasmine is a self-taught drummer and multi-faceted artist that found herself playing for multiple bands and artists after moving to LA just over two years ago. She is inspired by bands such as My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, and She Wants Revenge.
